CD player, and interior light problems.

I just bought a Svx, 92 about 3 moths ago for $1000 reverse is gone, and it has this problem were the cd player dosent work, dosent seem to get power, and the interior dome lights dont work. The person i bought it from let the car sit ther for about half a year with out moving it really. Is this a common problem, maybe a ground. Also if i have a door open my dash lights go out, is this normal?

i had the same problem, sorta - my radio, clock and interior lights would go out, but would come back (sometimes) if i cycled the map light switch.

he's how i solved it - i removed the dome light cluster (pop off light covers, two bolts hold it up there, and undo two plastic wire connectors). i blasted a good amount of electrical contact cleaner in the switch cluster (inside the four'SPOT/DOOR/ROOM/SPOT' switches) and let it dry for a day. it crapped out on me about 4 or 5 more times after that, and then worked fine (going on about a month and a half now - used to die every 15 minutes of so.) i guess this isn't an 'exact' fix, but worth a try.

my dealer quoted me $140 for just the replacement light switches, and $180 for the entire 'plug and play' cluster. Mike at Kerven Subaru quoted me $100 for the whole cluster.

good luck. i can sympathize because it was a really annoying problem!!!

Mine keeps blowin domelights. ITs annoying. I'm now on my 3rd main domelight in 1 year.

i'm starting to think the interior light switches aren't designed very well.
