Getting ready for Sandy

Cut 2 trees that were broken in June, to keep them off the passers-by, put extra rope on the Motorhome cover, Moving everything with decent paint away from the neighbors rotted up garage roofs. Fueled up the Outback and hit the market yesterday.
Put 4 over-sized snow tires on it a couple weeks ago.
We're as ready as we are going to get.
What-cha-doin??

20 gallons of Sunoco 93 will keep the generator running for about 6.5 days.
I have candles, matches, canned goods, dog/cat/fish/bird/people food.
Three SVXi and the Surbabam are filled...
Fourty gallons of water on the deck, got some bleach, a couple of 20# propane tanks...
The only thing that I am low on is camo face paint and Kickapoo Joy Juice!

15 gal of gas. Pulled out the Generator started it to test it. Brother in law picked up one of my extra generatos. I am up in Maine till Monday. Hooking up a 12v sump pump. Got batteries. Kerosene for lamps. Can't wait.

I am hoping that the dry air behind the front will rapidly weaken this thing. I need to pull out the generator but I am confident it is good to go. But our trees are pretty much bare up here so I don't really expect too much power troubles. The rain is what everyone from my area south to virginia needs to worry about. I hope I am right that they are a good 2X overblown on their predictions. And, really, how much can you do about the weather? If a tragedy strikes, we will band together.

Sure could have used one of those back in '93, after the Great Blizzard. No electricity for 7 days. Well water. Sure takes a lot of melted snow to flush a toilet. Thank heavens we had a wood-burning stove. And oil lamps, a radio, flashlights, batteries, food. And 40 gallons of clean water in the water heater for cooking and tooth-brushing and face washing.

Good luck to y'all in the northeast.

We did a few things, cleaned out the gutters, drained a little of the pool, laid down the basketball hoop. Inside, prepped candles, matches, battery lanterns. I am supposed to fly out of Baltimore Tuesday for a business trip. I am not sure that will happen.
I will have to buy a small generator after they become available again. We have no way to cook anything when we lose power, no heat either.

I have 2 cords of firewood stacked and dry. Pot belly stove running right now. I have cooked meals on it before.

By the way the alarmist weather forecasters are talking, this monster storm will probably reach all the way to Australia.

Reminds me of the way they were talking about the last one too.

I think it must have fizzled out before it got close cuz there was what 1/2 inch of snow when they thought it would be the next Katrina?
