I think I fell in love... but I need some advice, haha
Ok, so today I test drove a 92 White LS-L for fun and to see what they are like. Holy CRAP, I can't stop thinking about it. It was so fun and it does really well driving up in the mountains. So here are my questions (again)...
1. How hard are they to maintain? 2. What is a good price for one? (see below for what I am looking for) 3. What should I look for when I'm about to buy? 4. How hard are they to mod with aftermarket parts? 5. What is the wheel offset? It's different from all the other Subaru's right? 6. What are your personal opinions about the SVX in general? 7. Why are many people telling me to stay away from the SVX? BTW, here is what I'm thinking at the current moment. I would want either a 92 LS-L in Mica Black, Pearl (?) White or whatever year the Laguna Blue came out in Mods-wise... 5-speed conversion or shift kit; upgraded brakes; eventually a turbo kit; upgraded suspension; weight reduction; intake; chip; exhaust; wheels However, as of right now, I can't purchase a SVX til 1. I go to court for a "No left turn" ticket and see if I keep my license 2. I get rich...er. I'm broke right now... 3. Pay off my Impreza and then sell it. I think I'm looking to buy right around the end of summer. Thanx! Korean |
Aftermarket parts are limited. If you search this fourm you will find some.
It would be best to have some one that knows SVX look the car over. Wheel offset is 55, but the bolt patarn is different then most other subaru's. The Laguna Blue color was only used in 1994 and 1995. |
I'm purchasing an SVX for it's all around quality of handling in adverse weather conditions.
personally, I wouldn't try modding my svx, simply due to the fact that they're quite heavy. and they're rare, so parts are expensive if you, say, smash into a wall. look into something cheaper for a speed fix, trust me. making a crazy fast daily driver gets old. it's nice to have a comfy ride to school and back, then a crazy little track demon for weekends. |
If you have any questions, Im sure I or someone answered them in this thread when mr. 240 was asking around

Hey K~
I was looking at the stats of your 96 Impreza: If you want an off the line street brawler/rali car, than I would suggest that the SVX is not for you. Your Impreza is going to be more reliable, economical and practical. Also, it sounds like you may not have a bunch of extra $$$$ sitting around. Be aware that it is not unusual for an SVX owner to put the entire market value of the SVX into their car in maintentance and repairs within 1-2 years. Just some things to consider. |

This is true about not to much extra money laying around, but yes every so often I do have some, haha... BTW, everyone court went so so... and I believe I will be selling my Impreza here around the end of summer and buy a SVX... |
