A little smoke from the drivers side
What is around the drivers side of the engine that could be dripping onto the the exhaust. My valve cover gaskets and front and rear seals were changed within the last year and a half but something is leaking enough on the exhaust to give me a bit of smoke in that area. Could it be a Power Steering line?

Trans cooler lines are over there. P/S is on the other side.

Hmmm that's not good, time to crawl under and do some investigation.

Re: A little smoke from the drivers side
It looks like it must just the valve cover gasket again. I think that the lower right corner maybe leaking a bit.

Re: A little smoke from the drivers side
I bet the gasket got pinched out of the groove that it's supposed to sit in. Happens sometimes, and that's the corner least likely to be noticed if it were to happen. A little RTV on the corners isn't a bad idea, so it will hold them in place on the valve cover until you get them seated on the head.
That job is sooooooo easy with the engine on a stand... |

Re: A little smoke from the drivers side
There are P/S lines on both sides . That is where mine leaked over the driver side exhaust last year on the Pearlie. Ended up changing all of them( 4) at about $400.00 for parts.

Re: A little smoke from the drivers side
Another leak source is the top pinion seal on the rack. 2 of 3 racks I have inspected leak through that seal.

Re: A little smoke from the drivers side
It is hard to tell, it is not leaving spots on the ground and the valve cover looks clean. But the control arm for the suspension is covered in oil. I think they are seeping down around the bottom but it is hard to tell.
