Mark10t Update Thread

Some of us remember Mark from the Yahoo club. He posted here, but not too often. His last series of posts was to tell us that he had been diagnosed with lukemia and that he was getting treatment. His posts abruptly halted, so, I went looking for information on his condition.

I contacted his wife, Sharon, just before Reading and found that he was recovering from a bone marrow transplant and chemotherapy. He was still in the hospital and weak from the treatment, however, he was improving and was on the verge of being moved to rehab.

On the day of Reading VI, I had arranged to call his hospital room and have the assembly blow their horns as a show of support for Mark and his recovery. He was very pleased that we had offered such encouragement. While on the phone, he told me that he missed his SVX. I told him that I hoped he would be driving it soon and would be able to visit with the rest of us SVXers.

Yesterday, I received an email from Sharon saying that Mark would be moved to Rehab at around 10:30 this morning. It's the last leg of his treatment before he gets to go home.

It has been a long hard ride for Mark, I'm sure. Any encouragement that we SVXers can give him, I'm sure will be appreciated.

He's located in the Twin Cities, so, any of you from around there who could offer a personal visit, I'm sure, would be very cool.

Once I get his new information, I'll post it, so that we can continue to send notes and cards of encouragement, in hopes that his rehabilitation will be quick and fully successful.

Keep up the good thoughts and prayers for Mark, and his family. The positive "energies" of many, can have amazing results.

Thanks for the update randy. Is there any place that we might be able to send get well cards too? If so please PM me as I would love to send Mark a card.

Randy,

Thanks, you sure can send cards of encourgement to get him more motivated. The address that would be the best to send them to is : 11765 Oak Street, Chisago City, MN 55013 as soon as I get a phone number for the Rehab I will let you know. Mark is really doing good, he past a swallow test today - that was big deal for us!

Thanks again Randy for checking in with us on his condition that means alot to both of us.

Sincerly
Sharon M Tente

We were actually thinking of paying him a visit last weekend but none of us knew of his exact location. :(

That would've been cool. Sharon never gave me the location of the hospital or, I would've passed it on. I wasn't sure personal visits would be appropriate, so, I didn't ask. My bad.

Perhaps, now that he's being moved to rehab, personal visits would be more appropriate. I'll ask in my next email.

Sharon,
I hope Mark's transfer to Rehab went smoothly and that he's now on the road to full recovery.

I also hope that the horn tribute proved to be an encouragement to him. Many good thoughts and prayers were sent your way that day.

I'm in the process of gathering pictures to e-mail you from members who took them. I'll forward them as soon as I can.

Have a wonderful day and give Mark my best.

Randy

Yes, it made his day when you guys blew you horns, he had a big smile on his face.

Well, right now I am not happy with the rehab center, they are not impressing me at all. Hopefully after I talked the shift leader maybe I open up her eyes a little.

Sharon

Sharon e-mailed me the other day (sorry, I'm just getting time to check in) and said that Mark is in good spirits and working hard at rehab. She hasn't said, yet, when he'll be coming home, however, she did say, when he does, he can expect a freshly painted SVX. Her son and her are going to have Mark's car painted as a "coming home" present.

With that, and "acts of caring and kindness" in mind, I thought it might be neat if the SVX community pitched in on the cost of painting the car. Whaddaya think? I'd be willing to put the first twenty dollars into a pool to get it started. I'm sure the medical costs (even with insurance) are going to be tough on the wallet as it is.

Let me know what y'all think.

Put me down for the same! Let us know how and when to pay. That is a great idea! I can't imagine what that would do for him. Thanks Randy! :)

Super, Earl. Here's what I'll probably do: Slip the money/check/m.o. (payable to Sharon Tente) into a card with a note telling her what it's for (I'll e-mail her and tell her to watch her mailbox for some surprises), then, mail it directly to Sharon at: 11765 Oak Street, Chisago City, MN 55013. That way, she'll have all of those cards and notes to share with Mark when he comes home, and a great story to tell of how the SVX community helped to get his SVX in ship-shape for his return.

I would also like to donate to hsi paint fund. i do not know him personally but I do what we are all about on the network. Please let me know how we should send a payment to him.

Tom
