Rear Rotors
 

Hello, I need some help with swapping out the rear rotors. I already did the front ones but the rear is different. I could not get the caliper loose. I'm not changing the pads just the rotors. They're is a bolt on the bottom of the caliper which I loosened but the top doesn't have one. Just an enclosed assembly with a nut in the middle. I could not figure it out. No experience with this. They're was a nut on the top backside of the caliper that I loosened but the caliper was still rock solid. Can anyone give me some instructions how to complete this or if I need a special tool. BTW I have had this car for over seven years and have always had steering wheel shake especially at high speed braking and the race concepts slotted and drilled rotors in the front eliminated almost all of it:cool:

Just checking did you leave the parking brake on? Otherwise mine went just as well as the fronts

Yes I did have the emergency brake on. Does having this on cover the bolt assembly. I know elementary questions but I have never changed my own rotors. Thanks for the quick reponse.

that brake mecanism is actually a drum inside the rear rotor, that is why it hinders you from removing it, not sure about covering any bolts though

Thanks I'll try it again with the parking brake off this time. I did the fronts with it on and had no clue I was sabotaging myself with the rears. Take care.

Some people have also needed to 'un-adjust' the parking brake to allow for more clearance prior to removing the rotor or to install the new rotor.

Don't forget to adjust the parking brake after you are finished even if you don't have to touch it for the install.

I still need to install my RaceConcepts set. They're still sitting in the shipping box by the front door. I can't decide which of the two cars to install them into . . .

The cliper will slide right off the top pin, but the caliper bracket has two bolts on the back side. The emergency brake will keep the rotor from moving, but it has no effect on the removal of the caliper or bracket.
