The Power Mode Mod, finally.

Finally did it, after owning my SVX for 3 years and it's awesome. I was always worried with other issues regarding the car to ever really mess with any performance mods of any sort, until now.

I was motivated last night and looking at how really easy it was, tracked own the items in my house to ground it.

Having an exhaust leak right around the cat. the check engine light would always come on after about 5 minutes of driving anywhere near of 40mph. With the power mode on the entire time, the check engine never came on the 40 minutes I drove it today. At all. The CEL is for the O2 sensors, IIRC.

That, and my windows work again. Haha... so now I'm wondering if the short in the window wire under the seat has any relation at all to the CEL code thrown for the o2 sensor (most likely not, right?) or if the power mode just disregards the o2 sensors to some extent? It really does make me wonder why USDM did not get the sport mode button... unless it is somehow related to passing emissions, I'm unsure how the JDM does it, emissions that is.

Is there a page in the "how-to-documents" on how to do this? If its that easy, I might try it now.

Not sure about how-to but there's a thread about it:

I made a video of how to do it on youtube but can't access it at work right now. It's like 2 mins long but shows you how easy it is.

Read that thread and if you still have questions you can ask. It's pretty easy and a lot of us have done it.

Absolutely. Anytime you are dealing with the computers.

Good idea, the thought had came to mind but I didn't really see it as cutting into any wires as it is just grounding one as a switch. I did pull the harness/connector out and insert my pin first then insert the connector and then grounded the wire.

i thought so... just making sure. now i think i'll attempt this mod this weekend. :] i want to switch pin 4 to pin 6 so i can just use the manual button to try it out. how hard is it to pull out the wire? i REALLY don't want to break anything..

I think you would have a harder time trying to remove that pin and put it in A4 than if you just put in a connector and grounded it. Just my opinion though.... it's a weird angle and looking up for more than 5 minutes makes me nauseous.
