The official SVX coffee table book thread.
Hi folks,
I'm putting together a full color SVX coffee table book, and I'm looking for people who would like their car to be in it. If you want to have your car immortalized, here is what you would have to do. Post up the best picture you've got of your car, I will need very large file sizes. If you don't have any yet, now is your chance to get that shutter clicking. File size requirements. At a standard 72 dpi resolution, I'll need the image to be very close to 2000 pixels per side, for those of you that are not technically minded, a 4 mega pixel camera at its highest quality setting will suffice. I'll also need to obtain releases for the images, this won't mean I can use the image however I like, but it DOES mean that you release the image to me for publish in a book, without expectation of compensation of any kind. With that said, I will be selling these at cost to me, plus a small amount to cover my time. The book will be 80 pages, so we have lots of room for inclusion here. I'm a graphic designer by trade, so you can expect that this book will be very tasteful and professionally done. Here is one of my inclusions. http://www.subaru-svx.net/photopost/...scenic-two.jpg Lets get posting. |

Time frame?
Hello
Thats a nice idea. I would suggest you posting by when you would require the pictures by. As well I would suggest setting up an email address where the photos can be emailed to, posting such high res pictures would really tie up a lot of server space-I think. I would also suggest that you make a templet for a standard for the photo releases as it would make your life easier to have all the info in the same way from each user and not be required to email back and forth asking for whats missing etc.... I have never done this before but seems like it would be easier tis way. Now I as about the time line as I have yet to pick mine up and will do s only in late Feb or early March and prob will not have the chance for nice picks till end of March. Regards Max |

I've already got releases that I use when photographing models, I will send those releases out to those who are slated for inclusion when the time comes. As far as I time frame is concerned, I want to give everybody a chance to let their car shine. I think that a June 1 deadline would be appropriate. It isn't just exterior shots that I am looking for, pictures of modifications, interiors, days at the track are all welcome. As a pointer for some who have not had any photographic training, this is what I'm looking for. The SVX should be the focus, but that doesn't mean it should be dead center in the shot, its up to you how creatively you would like to frame it. No driveway shots, unless of course your driveway is particularly spectacular. Shots of you under your car, under the hood, covered in grease are all welcome. Pictures of something you are building for the SVX, nice, artistic shots of exausts being fabbed, turbo chargers being fitted are great. If you would like to contribute to the text of the book, I'll be posting chapter topics later in the month for people to add something to if they would like. -Patrick |

Just getting it into photographable shape
Hi,
The only time I shot my car was when I first saw it, in the PO's driveway. But, since I earn my living writing about and photographing cars, maybe I'd better get on it. I'd love to have it in the book. I used an 8mp Canon DSLR, and shoot in Raw, so I think I can supply enough pixels for you. Paul |
Cool beans paul.
I'm excited to see pics of that back seat lol. -Patrick |
Hmm...Covered in greese Fabrication shots? Piece of cake, consider me on it:D

I'll try and get some pictures for you.
|
I will see if I can find one and then get some pics of it.
|
I'll get some of mine too, will you be able to photoshop out the paint chips on the front bumper? lol...
|
Thanks for bringing up that point Honda, if you are worried about taking shots of your SVX because of minor paint problems, don't worry about it, all of these shots will be processed in photoshop before going out the door.
