Buy This Technical Book.
An Australian publication titled, “Performance electronics for cars” provides a heap of information for anyone on the fringe of technical understanding, with excellent easily understood articles on car computer systems. The bulk of the book is dedicated to easily constructed projects applicable to modifying fuelling, control of turbo boost, switching devices and much more.
Of special interest will be a digital pulse adjuster, which can be used to alter pulse width modulation signals controlling solenoid valves, e.g. transmission solenoid “A” which controls transmission line pressure. However this device is rather complicated and quite expensive to build. How about a digital fuel adjuster which can be used to alter the output of a MAF. Something several here have been trying to achieve. Again this device is complicated. Another interesting and quite simple item item, is a voltage sensitive switch, which both circuit wise and physically, comprises 99% of the “QC” shift kit. Do I really need to drop in here to say, "Enough you two!"?

I have no axe to grind, but I will not stand by and see members conned or wrongly informed on technical subjects. The fact that one individual is so often guilty in this regard, is not my problem and should not deter me. There are facts/circumstances which members have a right to be made aware of. |

Thats the books cover, if anyone out of Australia, such as myself, would like to try and find it somewhere in the states. |
Re: Buy This Technical Book.
Looks like an interesting read... I have ordered one

Looks interesting.
From a purist perspective, I think that building hardware is the wrong way to modify the operation of a software-controlled system. But realistically speaking, it is likely to be easier than reverse-engineering the control software. |

ISBN?? It was $30 to get it shipped to the states with insurance... No reason to argue with that

But reverse engineering the data in the book could prove useful. If you get MY reversed engineering. |

The book is ideal for anyone wanting a quick low down on car electronic systems. A hell of a lot is explained in very few words. Cheers, Trevor. P.S. I liked your site. |
Re: Buy This Technical Book.
Was wondering why that book looked so familiar... I work at Jaycar!!!
