What speakers do you recommend?

I just got my new CD player working. Only problem is that the previous owner removed the front speakers. What type/brand of speakers do you recommend that will fit?

I have MB quart 6.5" components up front. I love em!

Are the speakers oval shaped?

Green1995SVX 09-22-2002 01:56 PM

No, They are round.

Size DOES matter

Aside from the size it is difficult for someone to "recommend" speakers. They are the most subjective component in an audio system. You'll need to listen to as much as you can since all manufacturers and models posses different characteristics. Some you'll like and some you won't. Good luck.

B-T-W MB Quartz sound spectacular in many people's opinion.

i had Infinity Kappa's in my old car and they were REALLY excellent sounding speakers. Mike, you should have these - the speaker cones are green! (the newer models are grey, but you can still find the "older models" around cheap.) MB Quarts are really good, too.

Will 6" x 9" oval speakers fit?

Landshark 09-22-2002 07:03 PM

i haven't upgraded my speakers yet, but i believe they are 6x9's in the rear and 6.5's in the front. correct me if i'm wrong anybody.

I very much doubt that you will be able to fit 6x9m ovals in the front due to space limitations but the round grill shape would not cause a problem.

Have a look at the recent thread " Door Speaker Adaptors " in Mod Mania for information which should help you a great deal.

McIntosh is what I recommand.

Polk audio is what I use.

I was working in the audio industry when I bought my svx, so I went with the absolute best speakers i could go with. I bought everything before I actually had problems with my svx, so I had quite a bit of money at the time. :) I have MB Quart 6.5" components with .75" tweeters in the dash. The highs and mids are so lifelike it's unbelievable. They sound especially good with acoustic music. I have JL VR Series 6x9's in the rear, and they have some of the best bass and mid highs in the industry. They are my favorite 6x9. The magnets are bigger than on some Sub's I've seen! There is a guy on campus at my school who claims he has 6x9's in his front doors. I would like to see how he has them mounted... I wouldnt even guess how difficult it was to fabricate a bracket for that!

but pricey.

I just had Sony Xplode 6.5" 3 ways installed in my doors and Pioneer 6x9 4 ways installed in the rear (thanks Zepp!). Ordered them from Crutchfield. They sound absolutely awesome! If anyone wants the specifics, let me know.

Alright, I can't resist. You want VOLUME? Go with Polk Audio Momo series all around. Just have alot of power to drive them.
