last SVX produced ??
 

hello,
someone has requested me to find out when exactly (1996 or 1997 ?) the last SVX was produced and if the production number is known.
Was it sold in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, US, Canada or Europe?

The last 1997 SVX was produced in December, 1996.

If it was a U.S. 1997 LSi, the last one would most likely have a VIN of JF1CX8653VH100640

It would either be Brilliant Red (most likely color), Polo Green, Bordeaux Pearl or Ebony Pearl. There were only 640 of the 97's produced.

The first SVX (1992) came off the FHI assembly line in September, 1991

If I am wrong, I'm sure there are others here who can supply additional information.

I saw a picture of the last svx made/ inported somewhere..Not sure where, but yes, it was brilliant red.

It appears that your information regarding the first SVX produced is somewhat off. My SVX was built in April of 1991 (see vin plate picture)

mine is June of 91 as well...

I got the SVX beginning production date from jamsvx website. He said the first SVX's in Japan went into production on September 18, 1991 as a model L-CXD.

His information, along with help from paddlesnz, is usually accurate. Could the US models have been produced earlier that year, with the JDM models appearing later?

Production of the SVX started at the Gunma factory in April 1991. By July 1991, 4000 had been produced, all LHD for the US release in August 1991. Full production for all markets began late July 1991 and the JDM release was September 1991.

Thanks so much for clarification of this. I knew one of you would give the accurate and complete answer.

I can only imagine how many car enthusiasts in Japan were salivating, watching the SVX leave their shores, for a full five months before they were offered for sale in their home country.

Sorry about the slightly misleading info on my site, I will have to correct it as soon as I can.

I cannot recall the model details but I spoke to a fellow a few years ago who bought an SVX in 1999 that had sat on the lot for 20 months (!) and was supposed to be the last SVX that was sold in Australia and one of the very last off the production line.

If I can, I will try and see if I have his email address but all my notes etc are back in Australia
