Online SVX manual !!, ECU Question....

Straight question here..... does anyone know if starting the car while the ground leads are in memory clear mode (both prongs in the respective connectors on the harness) will fry the ECU? I got some maybe bad info that told me to start the car while in "clear" mode, and afterwards the check engine light came on again this time with 4 codes (32,33,37,56). Prior to this I had only one, the 56 EGR code. Is it possible I screwed my ECU? Now its saying I have a problem with both 02's and the vehicle speed sensor in addition to the EGR problem. Its a 92 LS-L with 138K, and it idles and drives great despite the codes.

Also: Found a link to an online service manual for the 92, possibly for later models as well, with a link at top to download the entire thing in .pfd format. Hope this helps:

(Was not the info that told me to start the car in clear mode)

Thanks guys..... taking a trip about 1000 miles on tues and want to hopefully make sure it will get me there.

The ECU is fine. No worries there. Best thing to do is leave the battery disconnected for at least an hour to allow the codes to be reset. Then after a couple days of driving retest the codes to see if they are still present.

Ok hopefully thats the case, im just wierded out that after reading and clearing the one code 56 for the EGR, the light comes back on right away adding 3 more codes not initially present. Yipe!!
