Wheel bearing - How to repack
I am replacing my rear wheel bearing. I have found info on how to replace, but nothing on how to repack the bearing. I have 3 questions:
1. Should I repack the bearing? - there seems to be a lot discussions on this topic - any resolutions yet? 2. If I should repack, then how do I do it? 3. What grease should I use? I see that I should use Hi-temp, but are there any specific brands/types recommende? Thanks, Paul The car does only have 24k miles, but unfortunately, the rear hub broke where the stablizer link connects to it, so I am replacing the hub and installing a new bearing. |

Yes, you should repack the bearings. Use a good high temp grease or synthetic grease. Here is a thread on how to replace the bearing. There is also some other good info on it. Good luck. :) |
Thanks for the link. I didn't see anything on how to repack the bearing. I am looking for info on the proper way to clean it and put the new grease in it.
