AWD Binding weirdness
For the last couple weeks I have had the chance to drive Don (srusvx)'s car as mine is in the shop. His car has awd binding... the weird part is, though, that it is very intermitant. Yesterday, it wouldnt bind at all. This morning it was fine, then this afternoon it started binding again. It comes and goes. What could be the cause of this?

Binding
Try doing figure 8's in a parking lot (empty), dunno where I read this was a possible fix, but I did. Good luck!

Sounds like a partially clogged campaign filter/cooler.

Experiencing same issue. I don't pay too much attention to it.

Living in denial, eh?
All things, left to themselves, will go from bad to worse.
Driving in figure 8's just allows the transfer clutches more opportunity to slip and wear-in when new or when there's been a lack of lube to the friciton material. If that 'fixes' the problem check, as Doug mentioned, for a clogged external filter or cooler very soon. Another possibility could be a malfunctioning duty solenoid. |

...especially my two year old! I believe the figure 8's helps
little chunks of material to stick to something magnetic: maybe the drain plug? I dunno. I did read it, so it must be true! Just be on the look-out for Tonya Harding thugs, while you're pirouhetting (sp?):) |
I agree with Beav. The duty solenoid C is starting fail. There are two little valve spools in this device that are used to control the pressure to the transfer clutches. Those parts have worn and are starting to stick which prevents them from sliding as they should. Duty C can be changed without pulling the tranny. I think the part is about $70.
