pls suggest motoroil to use
 

want to know what brand and grade other svx owners used?and interval of oil change?For southisland of new zealand,possible down to ivercagill,what grade would be more appropriate?and what about airfilter,and others,like,brake fluid,auto trans,power fluid,?Anyone change the fuel filter at what interval?say 40,000km or 60,000km?THANks..

The mechanic I've just started going to uses all Penrite brand fluids - so did the mechanic that looked after my old 'Benz for years.

I've attatched .pdf's with Subaru's recommended service schedule & fluids. Whether its what others here also recommend I don't know, but hopefully its a start at least.

One thing - I know my mech. uses DexIII, not DexII for ATF/Steering fluid.

thanks very much,that really help a lot,,...i bought my92 in 2003,and in the last 5 years,i only change oil 3times and 2 for coolant,only done 30,000km,guess i need to service more.....though it still run great,problem with mine is that i only use my svx once ayear for 2 months or so,other times just sit there and unplug....i will reunite with my svx soon in sept,n will done a big service on it,,thanks...

i used the castorl magatec in my svx. i do oil and filter change in 10,000kms per time.
ive desided to go use penrite in my 1400 Subarus.
but if you got the cash i would go with Amsoil.
its great stuff. my old turbo vortex was run on ams sine 15,000kms. it did almost 300,000kms and the motor and turbo was nevers touched

vow,300,000 that amazing,i hope my svx would last that long,possibly my life time....what grade u using for castrol and Amsoil?i used castrol 10w-40.thinking about Amsoil...how much and where u got it?

Dexron III supersedes Dexron II, and is OK to use in things that take Dexron II.
This is not ALWAYS the case with numbered transmission fluids, IIRC the new Dexron IV is not compatible, but I can't remember exactly.
