Where to go for Rotors and Pads

Looks like my front rotors have worn down enough to not pass inspection so I will be putting a new set on. Anyone have any recommendations for where and what to purchase?

Sean,

My own personal preference is Centric brand plain fronts off multiple eBay sites w/ free shipping. I have used then with various pads, Lomandi, EBC Green with no problem w/ warping. If you want to get crazy (and expensive) get CarboTech AX6 pads for the fronts..noisy and wear down the rotors but your eyeballs will bulge when you hit the stop button..warm up pretty darn quick too in the cold. You really need a sticky set of tires to get the most out of them though....lot of fun with R6 DOT radials !! Still a hoot with better rubber street meats.

from what I heard you don't want slotted rotors.

I would just get cross drilled or blanks

I used these. Not worthy of stopping on a dime and giving you 9 cents change, but work as good or better than the stock ever did.

Thanks everyone. I took the easy way, which was to just ask my mechanic friend to order a set for me.

This is the path I've chose. My previous rotors were drilled but the eventually crack and you cant cut drilled rotors. So for the price, I use Centric plain rotors. Good for my daily commute.

Really you would pay to have them faced? Once you face ( turn) a rotor it is thinner and there is a better chance of warp. Some shops grind rotors and they can do drilled rotors. If you need to remove more than a few .001 ( .0015 to .020 per side ) to clean u should toss them. Shops around here charge almost as much to face them as getting new plain ones off the internet. And you have to lay the car up while they do it. JMHO of course.

My STi would routinely scare me with its lack of braking on initial application in wet conditions (although when they did finally come on they were more than sufficient!). I put slotted rotors on the car and the issue disappeared.
