got the car, now i gotta get some parts
 

hey guys,

just got the car today, had to put her into hiberation for a few months but that leaves me with some spending cash. i gotta get some corner lights and an antenna assembly but i wanted to know what you guys suggest i spend the money on. im looking to first make sure the car is solid before i start doing performance mods. im gonna buy parts through motorsports, what do you guys suggest i get to make sure she is bulletproof, also she has 117k on her had a tune up at 104k what maintance should be done? thanks guys!

First I would install a tranny cooler and filter. That is the best cash you can spend on protection for the car.

I recommend you start setting aside a replacement transmission fund. Also, if your insurance company offers it....spend a the few dollars a year on seperate windshield coverage. One other thing, make friends with the parts people at your local Subaru dealership....and hopefully they will give you a discount on replacement parts. I worked for Subaru and saw how large the markup on most parts were over dealer cost.

Does this tranny cooler recommendation also apply for the later models?

yes, the later models are supposed to have stronger transmissions but still it is a good idea to get a tranny cooler. Which reminds me that I still need to get one.
