Help wanted (SVXWN Staff additions)

The SVX World Network is doing to major work on the back end. We are trying to add services, looks, performance, etc.....
I will be taking PMs from interested parties that would like to join our administration/staff team that have experience in areas we seek assistance. Please keep in mind we have NO payroll and all work performed is a donation to the SVXWN as a volunteer.

Listed below are some skills we would like to get some assistance with. By no means do we look for all the skills in one person.
  • Level II MySQL database administration (advanced to expert experience preferred here)
  • Graphics artist (preferably with experience with web and HTML graphics)
  • Level II PHP programmer
  • HTML design specialist

If you have a skill in one of the areas listed above and you would like to join the team, please PM me your interest and explain your experience in the skill. Resumes will be accepted, but not necessary. All entries will be viewed by myself and Jim as the server administrator.

We are not really NEEDING this, but if you also have any "advanced" skills working with Jelsoft Vbulletin as an Administrator, PM me as well. Experience with custom templates and configurations is a plus.

This certainly illustrates the qualifications of our boss man. Imagine what it would cost if he were not for free.

I am so baffled. There is no way that Jim and I are the only ones here with linux administration skills:confused:
For the record, I am a linux administrator apprentice. The site has run this long because I make sure the that things that NEED to get done that I do not have the Master like skill to accomplish is taken care of by other specialists. In the past most of this was donated time from Travis Burnside (previous founder/owner QWK.net LLC). He still assists us on a as needed basis. The last few years has been accomplished with the generous donation of time and skill of the very quiet Jim Waldon (now an SVX owner.... and oddly enough, brother-in-law). I am just the founder and wrench turner. When the serious administration work and engineering needs to be done, I take it to Jim and or Travis. I might know PHP, but that does not mean I can engineer it. Two different things, trust me.

How about graphics people?

Graphics? I do some 3D design stuff. Here's an H-6 for you:

Flat 4. DONE!

Check my locker in the 3D renders folder. I'll add some of the other stuff I've made.

Crazy_pilot 01-18-2007 09:16 AM

Also, if you'd like anything (simple) drawn up, let me know and I'll see what I can do. A full 3D SVX would be a LOT of work. I mean several weeks at least, after I learn the proper techniques.

I can also do video. Like a spinning SVX emblem.

Can you make an animation of a flat 4 in motion? Pic looks awesome man!

Crazy_pilot 01-18-2007 09:27 AM

haha...that would take a while. Simply getting the crank to move in sinq with the connecting rods and pistons would be a challenge. Getting all the valvetrain components to move properly would be insane.

I may give it a try, but don't hold your breath.:o

Hmmm...My first hijacking!:D :D :D

Take as long as you need if you feel like doing it.

Time?

If you are thinking about taking the time to do it---make it a 6 since this is an SVX site and not a WRX site. :D

Very impressed with you work. :)

One of the best thread hijacks I've ever seen, bravo.

I was going to do the 6. The file is actually of the 6, I just blocked out two pistons to make the rendering of the 4. If I animate the H-6 I can just hide the two back pistons during the animation.

I think what I'll do is just animate a couple revolutions, so everything moves, and then make it longer by editing the clip so it plays back to back multiple times.
