Odyssey Oddity

I was looking through my (wife's) van's maintenance schedule today and I noticed a rather odd notation.

It says I should change the oil every 7,500 miles (OK fine, no problems there) but that the oil filter should only be changed every 15,000 miles... That kinda floored me...

Why would you change the oil, and not the filter?

Thoughts?

maybe when they use the "honda" filter, it lasts longer

seriously - i dont know. cheaper on parts,labour, or disposal????
environmental issues??
