blew a PS pump, what will interchange?

Well the impellor in my PS pump decided to wear all the way or out something. Steering started acting weird, its heavy and then easy heavy than easy. Needless to say, I grabbed a spare pump off my 95, and I guess it was blown too (never drove the 95, so it was a chance that it might have been good lol)

Will any of the EJ Power steering pumps work on the SVX? I could give 2 shats about the speed sensitive part, I just need the car to drive and not kill my shoulders while doing it.

I've got access to a 01 Forester, 99 Outback and a few 90's EJ22's. Thoughts?

Did you check your crank pulley? It may be separated which is why both pumps don't work.

Good luck!

Have you checked the O ring in the fluid tank? It sounds like that could be the problem. I would do that before anything else. :) I would do it even if you have replaced it in the last several months.

To answer your question: No other pump will fit directly onto an SVX. It must be from another SVX. Year doesn't matter. The speed sensitive part is external to the pump, so that doesn't matter either.

Why don't you rebuild it? Check the 'how to' section. I did it, it wasn't hard and the parts are inexpensive.

I just ordered a reman'd pump. I dont have the time to sit and tear down a pump and wait for parts. priority mail, it'll be here in 5 days.

The O ring is fine, I just replaced it within the last 6 months. My old pump has had a bent shaft since I got the car, and its always leaked a lil bit of fluid. I'm going to go put it back on right now, so i can at least use the car.

Thanks for the info
