Has anyone seen this new Prius commercial?

.

Very innovative, impressive in its execution and somewhat creepy as man replaces nature...

Although I'm not entirely sold on hybrids, I must say that it was a great commercial.

If you're not sold on hybrids.. Go drive a Lexus GS450h. That's my favorite thing toyota has ever put out. It is amazing.

I like how the new Insight pretty much looks exactly like the new Prius.

I do like the Insight better.
Less grillwork, and the windows are a bit stretched.

Did you see the video of how these do in a headon with a Camry? Not pretty.

I might say--Ford does a good job with Hybrids also and at a considerably cheaper price and with quality on par with the Toyota and better than Honda. :)

The Honda hybrids are not a dual-mode hybrid, meaning that the electric motor cannot power the car alone, like the Toyotas can. The Ford hybrids are basically a first generation Toyota Hybrid System like was used in the first generation Prius. They did some patent sharing with Toyota, Toyota also licensed out the Hybrid Synergy Drive to Nissan for the Altima Hybrid. (Nissan engine, Toyota transaxle, etc...)

I am so sick and tired of the flock of Prius around here that think it's perfectly OK to do 56mph in the left lane on the Interstate. And god forbid you get behind one on an on-ramp. They do like 37 and expect the right lane to slow to let them on, or come to a stop on the ramp. Ugh!

I don't think that crowd is limited to Prius drivers.

I would agree to a point, as Buicks are pretty bad, but they at least have an excuse since they are all piloted by people in their 80's.

I think you need to do more research on the Ford engines AND its relationship with Toyota. You might be surprised.

The Escape Hybrid uses technology similar to that used in Toyota's Prius. Ford engineers realized their technology may conflict with patents held by Toyota, which led to a 2004 patent-sharing accord between the companies, licensing Ford's use of some of Toyota's hybrid technology in exchange for Toyota's use of some of Ford's diesel and direct-injection engine technology.[7] Both Ford and Toyota state that Ford received no technical assistance from Toyota in developing the hybrid powertrain, but that some hybrid engine technologies developed by Ford independently were found to be similar to technologies previously patented by Toyota.[8] Aisin Seiki Co. Ltd., a Japanese automotive components supplier belonging to the Toyota Group, supplies the hybrid continuously variable transmission for the Escape Hybrid. While Toyota produces its third-generation Prius transmission in-house, Aisin is the only supplier of hybrid transmissions to other manufacturers. Friction has arisen concerning Aisin's allocation of limited production capacity and engineering resources to Ford.[7]
