Someone did a Hit and run on my svx + question

So the subject says it... Someone nailed my *PRISTINE* svx while it was parked on division street today. Have no idea who it was of couse, and no friendly note saying "I hit your car!"

Any of you know of a good body shop I could trust my car with around here?

Earthworm 01-12-2006 06:03 PM

That's horrible! Did you ask around if anyone saw it happen? Try businesses in the area. Even if you could get a vehicle type the insurance companies can usually match the damage from your vehicle to the damage on the other vehicle on hit and runs.

If there is little damage on it, the police in my area don't really do anything. It is too much trouble. One of the members in Seattle had someone hit him, leave a perfect indent of the license plate in his back bumper and the police didn't try to find the driver. With those odds, no wonder why they hit and then run.

I hope it didn't do much damage to your car. That is a real shame. :( I hope you can get it fixed to your satisfaction. :)

It wasn't *alot* of damage... i mean, it could of been a lot worse. It was just that I was pretty prideful of the fact that the body on my car was pretty much perfect without scratches / etc. beautiful paint.

they pushed in the rear driverside panel right below the side marker light. a very large and ugly white trash dent. they also cracked/broke the side tail light covering, however, the light and everyuthing inside is fine.

HOWEVER. CHECK THIS.
I walked up to my car this morning, to drive to work.

My car doors were slightly ajar, etc. Yeah. Someone broke into my car and cleand out all my stereo gear and some cool stuff i just had in it. they destroyed my center console.

How does this **** happen, 2 days in a row.

Sounds like someone with bad intentions may have "installed" the dent to test your alarm system. Then came back to clean you out.

Earl, Here in Cali you can go to DMV with a plate number and pay a small fee to find out who the registered owner is. Does Wa have a similar service? Yeah, I know, anything for a $$ in California.

ah god that sucks man. I was three days into basic training when I found out somebody broke into my car and cleaned it out, so I know the feeling.. but I couldn't do much about it. In the end I got a nicer stereo so I guess it was for the better.

Earthworm 01-13-2006 05:19 PM

Wow, that just makes me feel sick. Fortunately I've never had my SVX broken into *knock on wood* but I've had someone attempt to steal the aftermarket stereo from my Justy.

Be sure to keep us informed with updates about your car.

No, they will not give you any information about the owner of the plate. I wish they would. :(

The car trauma has died down for me a little bit. I've started coming out of my room, and eating again after being in mourning. :)

I posted up an Ad on craigslist offering free design work from my design firm in exchange fo some body work. I've had a few offers now, so I'm hopeful that I can make it out of this thing without actually having to dump too much money into the pit.

I'm 99.9% positive that the collision incident and robbery incident are two completely different unrelated events... unfortuante, but unrelated. The place where my car got hit was on the other side of the city from where I live... and in a very public place. There would of been many much better opportunitys to test out my alarm system... The robbery happened at my parking garage, and it looked like it was either an inside job, or had been an operation that had been in planning for at least a few days. They broke into about 5 cars in the garage.

Oh well. Bad carma!

I'll definitely be getting an alarm system.

Sad picture.

But good news. Going out to meet with a guy today who is going to repair the damage for about 250-300 bucks. I'll let ya all know how it goes...

Slowly puttin' 'er back together. :)

Earthworm 01-19-2006 12:26 PM

Make sure they reapply the zinc coating before repainting.

pipedream 01-19-2006 01:14 PM

I'm just having the body straightened out today... The painting will come next... I'm jewish, so I try and make sure each step is as cheap and cost efficient as possible haha.

Anyone recommend a good painter in Portland area?
