How "solid" is the '97 transmission?

Thinking of buying a '97 from a hot climate - the tranny's reported okay now, but there's no tranny cooler and the car has 46k miles on it.

Is there a lower incidence of transmission failure on the more recent SVX's?

Well, I've personally never replaced one on a 93 or newer. However, they are starting to get some miles on them now, (the one you're looking at sounds good), but you might at least want to pay for a screen cleaning and look see at what the pan has accumulated over time. I doubt the planetaries would scatter because it has the updated radiator. But ya never know, someone who was a leadfoot or something could have been driving it.

As a matter of fact the number of newer SVX trannies that I have replaced equals the number of AWS components I have replaced!:D :D :D
