AC compressor interchange and r134 swap

i have a question regarding AC compressors.

I just got my SVX back from the shop and they said that the compressor was leaking. I was quoted $1200 to replace the compressor, the condensor and retro-fit to r134. Sounds kinda spendy. I have a compressor from a 1995 Impreza sitting in my garage. will that interchange?

Also who has done a r134 retrofit? What did it involve?

Thanks

Bosco

There are quite a few threads on that, so do a search and you will get quite a bit of info on it. Change the O-Rings and go to a synthetic oil and it should work just fine. That is more than it should take to convert it. :o :)
