Few Questions cuz the new SVX is a piece.
 

What kinda Freon does the SVX use, R-34 or R-12?

New car likes to get about 230 degrees when going up hills, goes to 200 while on flat land, and runs 200 usually. Over sensitive coolant temp sensor or?

Any differences in the 96 tranny vs. the 92? (other then the year, and sticker)

The 92 and 93 models used R12. My 95 uses R134. I'm not sure about the 94 models.

Can't help with the tranny question. I know the answer is out there (cough...search button...cough). :D

What are you measuring temperature with? Is that tranny temp, or engine temp? An aftermarket sensor and gauge?

The trannys are different btw 92 and 96. I think it was an update to the valve body?(help please) 96 should be much better.

Its a aftermarket engine temp guage, from apexi water temp to be exact...

its tapped into the water pump...


I only ask because my 92 was rock solid with the temp, 215 and never moved. I am wondering if its maybe because that car had a tranny cooler and this one doesnt..

From what I've been told, the transmission in the SVX was updated throughout the 92-94 MY to help alleviate the over-heating that was common in the earlier 4EAT's.

I've also been told by a '97 owner, that the '96/'97 transmissions had the cooling lines within the transmission enlargened to prevent blockage and aid in better cooling.

newsvx who helped me do some work on my SVX this past weekend has a '97 which he AutoX's often as well as races at Summit Point - he hasn't installed an external tranny cooler and is still on the original tranny with 77K miles on the car with no issues whatsoever!!!

Yeah....that's never good for an auto tranny no matter which MY you have! :p

My 94 took (alot of) the cheap stuff, I forget but I think its 134a...

My 93 has R134A and the factory sticker to state that fact.
