Looking for a new laptop
Well, its 2009 and I'm sitting here with my tiny little 10.6" laptop from 2005 and thinking now isn't all that bad of a time to get something new :)
I like notebooks on the smaller side as I travel a lot. 10.6" is just starting to feel WAY to small lol. So I was checking out newegg.com and saw they had 0% interest for 12 months... So I applied and sure enough I got approved lol. They'll probably take anyone about now... Well I noticed the new Samsung notebooks and they seem to be competitively priced to the Dells, VIAOs, and Toshibas I had been pricing (and customizing). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...131017&bop=And If you follow that link ^^^^ those are the few I narrowed it down to. They don't have any real reviews yet being they are fairly new to the market. So, I was looking for some general opinions/reasons which to get. The middle one seems a bit faster on the HD speed and DDR3 memory but with pretty much the same options (minus those just stated) I find myself liking the 13.3" red one :) lol Thanks in advance for opinions :) |
Re: Looking for a new laptop
Go with the samsung P460-44P (Middle comp) Based on the fact they are mostly Identical but the middle or 44P has a 7200 RPM drive compared to a ****ty 5400 RPM. That and memory is DDR3 which is > DDR2

Re: Looking for a new laptop
You missed the best laptop of all. And it's because you were looking for laptops.
The HP tx2500 series is considered a tablet, with swivel touch screen. I have the previous generation, the tx1000 series, and I love it. They're 12.1" screens, have great battery life, have a non-intel graphics chip. Mine has a geforce go 6150, and it does light gaming fairly well. Best part is, you can find htem for $750-1000, very cheap for what you get. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834147739 The 2500 series seems to have the Radeon HD 3200 graphics chip. My laptop is exactly one year old, I bought it january of last year, and it's holding up great. Super durable, doesn't feel flimsey at all. The dvd burner has litescribe, so you can burn your dvd lables as well. I don't use the tablet features of my laptop, but i wanted like you want, small, super portable, and great battery life. Hope this helps a bit. |
Re: Looking for a new laptop
That is a nice tablet but you are taking a draw back on power. The Processor is only 2.10 where as the Asus is 2.4 also has 4GB memory compared to 3GB. The Graphics processor is much more powerful sitting almost 2x as powerful as the tablet. Its a nice one but if he is looking for more bang for the buck its best to go with the Asus. The Tablet is touchscreen =D which I like.

Re: Looking for a new laptop
I like the idea of the tablet as it would just be a new experience for me. I played with it in the store before. I just don't know if thats what i want. I don't think I have any use for the tablet part of it and I already had a bad HP experience this past october with a special edition unit.
The ASUS seems to be the most bang for the buck in the pricerange, It has quite a few reviews too. The only bad thing is the "out of stock" crap lol. I have also never heard of cyberpowerpc.com |
