Hello all,
Just picked up a Claret '92 SVX for my wife. Was perusing CL and happened upon it. Few texts and phone calls later, we made a deal and my wife was driving her dream car! The Claret has 120K and looks and runs good. Knew about the possible transmission issues prior to purchase but only had a 15min test ride and check of fluids in a Walmart parking lot to decide whether to roll the dice. Car seems to shift fine and so far it's getting a little over 20mpg (wife drives it very conservatively). Going in for inspection with my trusted mechanic of over 15yrs. Any suggestions on what to tell him to look for? He's been doing all my Subies thru the years, but this is our first SVX. Look forward to membership and learning all I can about this awesome car! That looks like a very nice one! That gold svx logo and belt line stripe are very rare accessories. Congratulations!

Congratulations on your SVX. I hope you have many trouble free and exciting miles together.
A couple of things that will help your SVX: 1) A transmission filter (PermaCool or other canaster type - also the stock one is good) 2) A transmission cooler will help with the temps that can get fairly high at times. These plus others can be found in the How-To Documents here on the site. Good luck and feel free to ask for help when you need it. That is why we are here and we can help you enjoy your SVX. :) PS You can register your SVX in that forum so it can be counted with all of the others. ;) |
