Impreza 5-speed for SVX

I thinking about doing a 5-speed swap after Nikfu gets his done and I was wondering which transmission is the best to use that still has a cable line for the clutch. Or what do you guys think I can do with 3k?

This would be a nice kit, that way you know you have everything you need.http://svx-motorsport-accessories.st...speedinfo.html

I would love to have a 5 speed, but Probably not till I buy another SVX. The little woman would be ticked off if I swapped for a manual, she can't drive a stick.

That's Smallcar's kit and people here.... have bad things to say about it.

wrx is the most well rounded choice of transmission. get one from an 04 or up. hydrolic is way better. if you can find a tranny for 1k and tomssvxs' kit is 1k. new clutch and other materials will not cost you more than another 1k. k?

Tom's kit, if he uses it, will have to come without the driveshaft as it would increase shipping quite a bit. We can go to Young's Gear in town and get one lengthened or custom made. I'm going with aluminum, which I have been planning to do for a few years.

Didnt someone say the Outback wagon drive shaft was the correct length?

1/2" too long but has been made to work

Did I miss something? I put a legacy MT drive shaft in my car. I only used the front haft and switched the carrier bearing with the svx one and it fit.

It'll fit but I wouldn't be surprised if you get some noise at high speed. The dust cup on the driveshaft needs to be trimmed or removed... I prefer the latter

I am so tempted to get this WRX transmission now.:)

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...ME:X:AAQ:CA:11

From a wrecked car but it might still be good. The seller gave me a ground shipping rate at $245.16 USD to Anchorage, AK.

for about 600 I'll be willing to do it, the only thing is that I'm not sure it still works. Look kinda like an auto trans tho.

Manarius 10-02-2007 03:12 PM

Nah, that's not Auto. If it was auto, the selector rod would go into the side of the transmission, not the top.

no oil pan either:)

My fiance's SVX has the WRX 5 speed... an absolute JOY to drive. It totally transforms the car. Honestly feels like it took 1,000 lbs off the curb weight. I HIGHLY recommend it.
