Need help with MAF options

I've been looking through countless threads on the subject but haven't been able to find a concrete solution to the MAF problem. Does anyone know from experience exactly what other Subaru models' MAFs ,years, etc, will go in without a problem. I've been looking around my area (Worcester, MA) and can't easily track an svx one down and for sure not cheap, but all the junk yards have different Imprezas and Legacys and I just figured I'd start to look in some of those. Anyways, any help you guys can throw out there would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

I would think that a JECS (black plastic) one would work from a early model Legacy (1990-1994).

I did some serious reading through the archives here before dropping money on a new MAF sensor and the consensus I've seen is that an Impreza will work as a stopgap solution, but there is a possibility it isnt reading everything correctly and therefore maybe sending erroneous signals, especially at WOT

I'm sure there are many people on this board who will sell you a working SVX sensor for pennies on the dollar :)

There is one on ebay I would make sure it is correct for your year? I think they are all the same but not sure.
It is from New Jersey!!! Might research ebay and new jersey on this network??

from what I've gathered Vineland is full of con-artists and should be avoided... but hey, its only $20 for the MAF, mightas well jump on it

Other MAF meters are not the same. You have to use an SVX maf meter unless you are upgrading the ecu software and fuel injectors at the same time. There are a bunch of people who have done just that who will probably happily sell you their svx maf meter. Maybe send svxfiles a pm. He's probably got one and is not a con artist. I think he's installed a couple stage II's for others as well so if he doesn't have one he may know who does.

I think young tom, tomsvx, may have installed a couple stage II systems as well so you can probably check with him too. I imagine between the two you will come away with an SVX maf meter.
