Driver's seat doesn't always release
I've been having trouble with the Driver's front seat release on my "new" 96. About 50% of the time, the lever on the side of the seat won't go up all the way to release the seat back. I have to push on the seat and wiggle the release before it goes. Sometimes, it really takes a lot of patience before it works. It's a real pain when its raining out and I need access to the back seat. I didn't find any pertinent info under the old threads on this subject. Any ideas or suggestions?

That's interesting. Can I have a look at it and wiggle it a bit?

Hi Lwin - Sure, PM me with your phone number. I can't locate it from the last time you were over at the house. We should be able to get together over the next few days. This is probably a minor problem but its driving me nuts.
BTW - someone with a dirty mind is going to send a reply to your post that has nothing to do with a seat release problem. Oops, I guess I have the dirty mind.:D |
Uh... ok..

Ever since Lwin said "I'd like to look at it and wiggle it a bit", I knew this thread was going to deteriorate.
I'm going to see him in a few hours and guarantee the only thing that will get wiggled is the front seat release. I am, of course, curious about the "secret fix". Lwin - if you want to invoke that fix, I promise I'll turn away and not watch. Kelli's secret will stay a secret. I just want the damn release to work. |
I met Lwin tonight and together we wiggled the seat release and we experienced the problem I described earlier. Lwin got out his SVX manual and we decided to take apart the back of the driver's seat. Turns out that there are two releases, one on each side of the seat at the bottom, controlled by the single handle on the left side of the driver's seat. In my case, the right release was binding and would stick. Unfortunately, we will need to take the whole seat apart to get at that release in order to free it up. So, that will be a project for another day.
Anyway, I want to publically thank Lwin for his time and effort to help me on this. This is not the first time we got together on SVX business. He is known to be a great help to everyone who asks and especially those of us who live in the area. Great guy! Thanks, buddy.:) :) :) |

now that he is gone, you can tell me....did he tell you my little secret???? if he did just say YESSHHHHHHHHH! Kelli;) ps, it is NOT FUNNY! |
Mine did the same thing. Turned out that the right cable was actually broken. I am a cyclist and had an old brake cable for my Road bike laying around. After soldering on the proper ends, my seat works like new.
