Spark plugs
I had the honor of changing out the spark plugs on my 92. Yay.
Well as a first time Subie guy it wasn't too awful. Took about 1.5 hrs going at a pretty slow pace. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My hands hurt but meh i'll get over it lol. Anyways... This is one of the plugs I pulled out. They pretty much all look the same. I only checked the gap on the first plug I pulled before I went to the store but it was @.038. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...X/SD531315.jpg http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...X/SD531316.jpg http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...X/SD531317.jpg http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...X/SD531319.jpg Let me know what you guys think and just an FYI the motor has 162k on it. Thanks, Mike |
Re: Spark plugs
Brown is good.
Black/wet - bad white/blue - bad Yours probably had a lot more life left in them. |
Re: Spark plugs
I take it your car idles better now (assuming you put ngk laser platinum or laser iridium plugs in)? The center electrodes are obviously worn and looking at the color if they are a standard 6 heat range your combustion wasn't as good as the average svx. The insulators are usually a light tan. This could easily be just because of the plugs. The coil dwell on the svx is reserved so our expensive coils last a long time but it's picky about the plugs.
