Dosn't look too bad, definitlly needs some body work but seems to have most of the trim and interior pieces and thoes are the hard things to find. I'd give him his $800 for it, as long as you got the time to finnish it. Personally I'm holding out on a good deal for a pickup or van.

re: changed my mind

changed my mind, think i'm going for a 93 imprezza L with strut and axle problems.

Subafreak 08-20-2003 05:49 PM

Well that dosn't sound as fun but, I have a freind that bought a 93 Imprezza L of of another guy I know ( I acctually set up the deal) with 200K on it for $500. The body and interior were in great shape and aside from brakes and tires and regular maintnace the car was all original. I had installed a 2.2L in it becouse someone didn't tighten the crank pulley on the 1.8L after doing a timming belt, and it wreaked the end of the crank. So the motor in it was newer than 200k and the reason the guy was selling it for $500 was becaouse the tranny (auto) blew up.
So my freind bought the car for $500 spent $700 to get the tranny rebuilt and the only thing we've done to it was an axle and motor seals at 260K miles other than that stuff the car is still on the original bearings, 3 axles, struts, and other stuff.

Moral of the story: good reliable cars that can be found cheap.

re: hey freak

hey freak, if you see another good deal like that, let me know. would be nice if the engine ran and all, but if not it's fine as long as it's cheap. porter looks bored, got to get him to cram a h6 3.0 in one of those. :D i want a off road toy that'll beat miranda's sti :D. $33k for a car is ok, but i would baby it too much to drive it off road. a nice el cheapo imprezza that can be fixed up would give me a happy face.

I wish I could find another deal that good, I wish I had bought the damn thing, but the XT I sold my freind was getting pretty tired and he needed a newew more reliable car.

On the other hand I only paid $200 for my Legacy ( see beater in locker) but I knew it needed a clutch( another $200) and as it turned out a month later I had to get a tranny for it ( $450 ouch) so it turned out to be more of a $850 car, but it's still an awsome beater.
