When a new TPS is installed, how is its allignment determined? The old one has ink or paint marks on it to match with the place its mounted to. I've tried to set the new one so that the car idles at 500 rpm when the engine is warm, but shift surges are much worse than with the old TPS. I'm ready to put the old one back on and let the dealer put the new one on unless I can get some info. on proper installation procedures.

UNK, I looked in the manual when I was having my TPS difficulties, and could find nothing about "aligning" the TPS. Wish I could help. I looked again, just to make sure, and still, no dice. Sorry. Anybody else know?

Thanks, RJ. I very carefully matched the allignment marks from the old TPS to the new one and my shifts are now back to normal, but I idle at 1000 RPMs which seems fast, but not too fast to live with. It may even be correct. I have the manuals and should look this stuff up myself, but I am not very good with the Japanese syntax!

Yeah, mine idles higher than it used to, since the TPS replacement. It used to idle at around 800, now it idles at 900. According to the manual, idle speed should be at 610 rpm plus or minus 100.
