Front Tone Ring Questions

My drivers side front tone ring is damaged (my abs light comes on and I see that the ring is broken). Does the HUB need to be removed to replace this (and if so, are there instructions anywhere for this), and is ~ $165 reasonable for the part? Thanks.

Thanks.

Larry

I don't recall what I paid but do know they're expensive. My mechanic expressed disgust that Subaru charged so much for, as he put it, "fifteen cents worth-a pot metal."

Yes the hub needs to come off. I have a couple in storage that I'd sell, but it could be weeks to find one... I'm sure someone else on the board would have one available.

I found the pieces of the tone ring that broke off and have super glued them back on. Then I took the car out for a ride and the ABS light no longer comes on. Don't know how long this fix will last but I thought I'd give it a shot and see if it works.

Boy, its a small world isn't it!:)
Yesterday I had an ambulance come into the shop, and all twenty wheel studs had broken off!
Well I just grabbed my trusty tube of Super Goo(TM) and glued those wheels back on!
What could go wrong?
Today that very same ambulance is racing through an orphanage parking lot and playground with a truckload of plutanium 235, used AIDs needles, some leftover botulism soup, and 11,000#s of C4.
It sure is a good thing that the blasting caps are in the glove box!:)
Well, have a blast today guys!
More on this later...
