motor oil
my svx is a 92 with 105,238 mile,
im getting the oil changed here soon and im not sure what weight oil to get it has moble one supersin 5w30 int it now. should i got higher i don live in houston tx and it warm or hot most of the time? |
Owner's manual says either 10W30 or 5W30 would be fine. 10W30 is recommended for the hot months while the thinner 5W30 is recommended for the cold.

From freezing to 95-ish, 10W-30 is good. In hotter temperatures, some recommend 10W-40, but I've heard that the thickening agent used in wide weight range oils is more prone to burning and leaving deposits on rings.

This is according to the oil used. For example the Castrol 10W-60 supersynthetic has an additional ingredient for that kind of issue. I used it for long time, it was great but now i was forced to switch to Total 10W-50 (French oil). It is still the best i can find over here.
