Just Imported the Unicorn 1991 Subaru Alcyone L with 4WS into the USA

Well talk about a comeback. I haven't been on here in almost 15 years. I ended up coming across this car, which was gonna cut up and put into a container for an importer and I couldn't let it happen. Car has 29k miles (47k kilos) .l I purchased it almost a year ago and have been going through hell to get it in here since last November since I wanted to do it under the 25 year rule.
I must say the car is flawless. no leaks,no rust and no issues. feels like a new car. amazing for it being 25 years old. Paint is a little sketchy since its original paint, but nothing a respray wont take care of.

I hope you guys enjoy the pics. she will be up for sale once I get her painted, install new tires and brakes and change out the fluids.

What are you planning on asking for it?

But it's RHD...call me crazy, but who would want a RHD drive car in the States? Yeah it might be a unicorn, unobtainium, whatever else you want to call it, but it's still RHD...and the temp reading is in centigrade, and would take me too long to convert it to farenheit, lol...

The temperature scale can be changed in about 1 minute but swapping two plug in wires in the kick panel.

Re: Just Imported the Unicorn 1991 Subaru Alcyone L with 4WS into the USA

Its more of a collector item than anything. Only 1200 were ever made with 4 wheel steering.
It is probably one of the lowest mileage cars in the country

After i repaint it i want 9k.
If im including the jdm bbs rims 9600

As far as the temp i just press the blue or red button until im comfortable. If thats a deal breaker for you, then your car priorities are not in order.

Like the people who complain about rhd Supras and not being able to go through a drive through. Becuase thats exactly why i buy a sports car, to go to Burger King. The Speedo is in Km thats a little weird but other than that its pretty easy to drive.

Took it out yesterday and compared to my old svx the 4wheel steering really keeps the car planted in the corners.

I'm OK with celsius and KM.;)
They made a stupid law here in Quebec a few years ago that no newly imported RHD cars can be plated only those already in the province. Likely too many young Quebecois with limited driving skills to begin with, were crashing with their Japanese Road Rockets.

What did you have to end up doing to get it registered in NC? Did you get the title when you purchased it overseas?

Thanks
Bill
