Tachometer Problem?

Just got back from a 150 mile round trip in Liquid Silver and think a problem has showed up. While cruising on interstate at 80 I noticed the tach was only reading 2,000 RPM, 1,500 at 70. Then I noticed the shift RPMs were only at 2,000 RPM and idle was reading 300 but sounded normal. Reving the engine will coax it to 3,000 but I know the engine is reving higher. Is there a sending unit going bad?

I'm pretty sure that the Tach is driven by the ECU. If the ECU wasn't reading the engine speed correctly I doubt that the engine would be running correctly as the spark, and FI would be all screwed up????

My guess is a sticky needle or some other problem on the gauge cluster itself.
