Keyless Entry option from JDM to USDM?
 

What would the required parts be?

I am presuming you could rekey the lock to our USDM... then get a blank JDM key (with button) cut to our doors. That way all the locks are the same on the car, and you dont need to get all the locks from a JDM car....

So you would need...

Doorlock/Handle(s), Blank JDM Key, what else?

Also, does only one door have the nifty handle in JDM land, or both? was this only an option in JDM land, or all SVX...

That is just a start. There is also a module that runs the system. Just the key that is cut for the car is $250. I checked on this when I was buying a JDM car and even with the system in the car, it isn't cheap. I think it will be a much higher price than you are willing to pay. But, I may be wrong. :o

Thats insane.

$500-$600 range is still in the 'sane' category for me...you think it would go way over that?

There is a control module next to the driver seat belt reel.
Only the drivers door handle can be used for keyless entry. That would be on the wrong side of the car for you.

True, the JDM door handle with the I/R receiver would only be for the right side, but LHD cars do have the switch in their driver's door handle (to activate the keyhole illumination). I wonder if that would be enough to use the module for the "combination lock" fuction (sans I/R functions)?

Interestingly, the instructions (see copies in oab_au's locker here) also show a picture of a LH door.

Does anyone have the wiring diagrams for the module? I wonder what else it connects to besides the door handle switch and door lock timer module. Does the output from the I/R receiver go essentially straight to the control module, or is the code-learning "smarts" in another module inside the door?.
