Subaru DEX = Scion xD !!!?
 

Looks like the time has come. First Subaru giving up a whole assembly line for Toyota and later came up with speculations that Subaru is gonna release a convertible coupe in collaboration with Toyota and all of a sudden out of the blue, released this DEX model in Japan. Basically looks like Scion xD with some exterior cosmetic changes. Hmm... seems like Subaru is gonna go with Toyota without anything of their own. They even delayed Exigo introduction just to let Toyota release their Venza.

Maybe we all have to stick with our current Subarus as long as they last.

I don't know for sure, but I don't feel like those cars are related other than by size. The window frames are all wrong so maybe the underneath frame is the same, but the top body itself doesn't match. I can't see the interior, so I can't say for sure.

Although, this article claims that the Dex is actually the Toyota bB...whatever that is.

Check this pic... thats toyota bB that you are talking about branded as Daihatsu and the interiors are obvious, they are the same except for a few details. one feature that you can easily compare is the location of gas filler door. Its on the same side as you see on any Toyota brand. Subarus are always on the opposite side.

I think I found what influenced this somewhat..

-Fuji Heavy Industries -- Subaru (Toyota owns ~20%. Toyota bought this from GM in late 2005. )

Toyota owns Scion, Toyota owns 20% of Subaru..

Conclusion:
Toyota + Subaru = Yuck..

IMHO the Subaru version has better front and rear styling than the Toyota version. Now that's funny. Subaru is known for weird styling while Toyota styling styling is a bit middle of the road bland. I guess times are changing.
