when i go over bumps my car does this ~~~~~

yeah, i was driving a friend to the ER for abdominal pain and i noticed that the ride was squishy. the car goes up and down for about 5 meters after i hit a bump or pot hole. its not terribly noticable, nor does it impead my travel.

But is that caused by my springs or strut, and in eather event is an aftermarket solution viable in terms of cost comparison. EG if i got koni incerts with my curent springs how much would it cost to install?

Struts.

If you are sticking with stock springs, I wouldn't bother going with Koni's.

Yeah if its bouncing like that then its definitley your struts.

thundering02 06-06-2005 02:31 PM

Shocks err....Struts :D

In my opinion I would go with Koni's just because of the recent discussions with the reliability of the OEM replecements.

yeah i was thinking konis myself. i find that stock parts are over priced for their durability. i might replace the springs as well the back ones are soft. i almost certin its the rear shocks that are bad i replaced atleast the front passenger strut and spring about 2-3 years ago.

It was the rear struts that failed on mine. I figure if you're going to replace something why not make it better?

Totally disagree... I have the koni's on my SVX (in the front only as that's all I got off ebay) but they are just fine and provide even a too firm ride for me on the road when at full firmness. In a week they'll be on the race car and Subaru OEMs will be on my SVX. The springs with 145k are just fine, as are the springs in my XT6 (which has 200k and a ton of abuse under her belt). Now if your planning to race then yeah, go with better springs BUT remember this will take you out of the stock classes so you'll get slaughtered in an SVX in any of the street mod and street prepared SCCA classes anyways. E prepared there's hope but then you're talking about a non street legal car anyways.
