Auto show - Ron's excellent adventure

Today I spent 4 hours at the Wash. DC auto show. It's been ten years since I last toured one of these, and in fact, it's probably where I first saw the SVX, & mumbled those famous words, "What in Hay'll is that"? $30,000? No way - my first house cost 2 grand less. So now we have a $20,000 Hyundai & a $149,000 BMW Z8 with a mere 394HP. Phew!

Observations - My humble opinions: Your opinions may vary.

1. Show stopper - STILL! the Plymouth Prowler in Y****w gold metallic.
Yeah - still goofy bumpers, but....
2. Speaking of "bumpers" Hah! Right up there with running boards -
EXTINCT! The new T-Bird will sustain 5 grand worth of damage if
tapped by a Pinto.
3. Most "over the top" headlights - Infinity Q45 - Gatling gun meets
Waterford chrystal.
4. Best looking cars - Anything Audi, especially the A4.
Nissan Altima, no kiddin'. Lexus ES300, best of the entire line.
5. Personal turn-on, but ashamed to admit - Isuzu Axxiom
with candy apple paint job.
6. Best looking women, uhh.."associates", also Isuzu. "May I answer
any questions about this vehicle, sir"? "Uhhhmm - homina, homina.."
7. I couldn't help thinking that if a totally cherry SVX (yeah, candy
apple) were spinning around on one'a them turntables, it would be
drooled upon by a different generation.

Thoughts upon leaving - "I gotta' get a new paint job".

Ron.

A pigment of your imagination...

<Thoughts upon leaving - "I gotta' get a new paint job">

...and my SuperRu needs one too....real bad.

Christmas Eve in Johnson City, I saw a Hum-V pull out of a parking lot that had one of those DuPont Chromolusion paint jobs....what a hoot! The darn thing changed colors about 4 times as it backed out, turned and drove off....

....a chameleon would be envious.:D Don

PS The Altima IS good-looking, and you can get a 240+hp six with it now. Did they happen to have one of the NEW Tiburons? Hun-day is doing their homework...

I must have missed the Tiburon, but some of the other Hun-days had fake shiny burled walnut that looked just as good as the fake stuff on the Jags. Dern Klever them Koreans!

washington, dc Auto Show now??

ron, when does it end? location? admission fee? open hours? could you give some information on that? so maybe i can find an excuse to drive there. i'm on school holiday. :D

first, ron's svx does not need a paint job (o.k., so i saw it in the rain and mine looked great that day too). second, the q45 and the axiom look great to me too. third, ron's first huse probably cost 3 grand total and came with a real ice box (he's OLD ya know). finally (as the wife yells breakfast is ready) the prowler comes with some tiny 6 cylinder, so ONLY if you're going to drop a small bock 8 in it should it even me considered!

SSSVX, it MAY be over by now. It was at the DC convention center, open 10-8 I believe. Admission was 8 bucks, parking at a garage was 12 bucks. You can probably find some info via internet somewhere.

Hey, Bill, even "I" look good in the rain. Even better underwater.
I thought the Prowler had the same 217HP six used in the other larger Mopar vehicles. Not exactly a screamer, but a pleasure to look at.
Kinda like my friend Ann Margret, although I'm not sure about the screamer part.

She'd also probably be happy to know that you didn't mean that she was used in other larger mopar vehicles. ;)

Ron,

First, HAVE A HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR

Second, There is a Hot Rod & Custom show in AC in mid. Feb. Maybe we should use that to have increase interest in an SVX meet in AC. We could all meet in the lobby of the AC Convention Center an do the show.

Third, instead of AC, maybe we should have a Baltimore Crabmeat Pigout SVX Meet. There is Rich 5i, Rufus, J. Hoffman, Svxit, you, & me. We could also invite a whole bunch of blue crabs. What do you think?
