Reardiff bushings?
My rear diff bushings are comming apart and they only seem to be availible with the entire rear sub frame. Is there any way to replace these?

I know these can be replaced with the stock, low durometer (soft) rubber or possibly the harder polyurethane components used on the Impreza STi.

They are actually replaceable, the part number is missing in 1992 diagrams on subaruparts.com, but if you look at 1994 or later diagrams it is there.
I think it is 41322PA000 (almost sure, but don't hold me responsible if not), I had paid $31.68 each. How to remove/replace those is a very good question. Make sure you have a suitable high-quality puller. Differential has to move forward and rest on some form of a stand to give enough working space. I ended up cutting out the old bushings with a dremel (yuck). Pneumatic chisel is another option. Pressing new ones in also did not go smoothly. I would seriously consider paying somebody to do it if I had to to it again. |
Thanks guys. When I called Subaru for them they also said they were unavailible. Is it possible they are changable on the 94 up, but not one the 92-93's? I'm thinking about some harder ones anyway because with the 5speed it transmitts a lot of power to the diff, and it hates it.

Subafreak,
Kuoh posted a procedure on the Yahoo SVX Club site about 3 years ago. IIt was a very, very difficult job, if i remember correctly. Good Luck. |
I think anything that involves a press or air chisel to change is desiged wrong from the start.
