New and Improved

Well those of you who were at Reading noticed the most horrible paintjob EVER on my car. The whole from clip was dryand orange peeled and the back half was single satged with no shine. Well i've been doing some resto work to make it ready for the next Reading so here are some pics so far.

2-tone tricoat black. The camera doesn't show how heavy the flake really is.

WOW, Nice Job man!!

How many basecoats and clearcoats have you applied?

Re: New and Improved

Well I did 3 coat of black, 2 coats of the metallic midcoat, 3 coats of red and 2 good wet coats of clear. I used PPG Deltron 2000 for my basecoats and PPG Concept DBC 2021 clear.

Sometimes in the future I am gonna do a paintjob for mine, I will apply 5 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear. I will lightly sand down the clearcoat and will apply two more afterwards (smart technique I read about).

Note that sanding the clearcoat happens only one hour after you apply the clearcoat and you let it dry using the heating chamber ;)

And why 5 coats of paint? the new Rolls Royces do that

I never knew your cars old look but that looks fantastic. What/ where/ how did you do that? Alone in your garage with plastic everywhere and a mask on? Do you just use a standard compressor? (nevermind your a pro huh?)

I want to go white/black two tone on mine. Why do SVXs look so sexy with black tops, Damn! Post some final pictures!

Re: New and Improved

I painted it at my work in the Paint booth. I think a black metallic 2 tone white or silver would also be awsome.
