Cookout?

Has anyone considered the idea (which was suggested last year at some point) of a cookout in the parking lot?

Most of us are just simple folk without a lot of cash to spare (I mean after the case of Asti ;) ) and this way we could all just hang out, rich(er) and poor(er) alike.

Of course, the weather is always a factor at that time of year, but some of us have enough anti-freeze in our systems to grill out in the winter. Not to mention any names, TOM :D :D :D

It would be nice if we could set up some kind of tent or pavilion, with the hotel's permission, of course. If no one has one to bring, perhaps we could look into renting one.

Just a suggestion.

What a GREAT idea, Diana,:)

I'm in for the parking lot idea.;) Everyone could throw down so much a person and someone could go to the local store and get all the fixin'.:)

The cookout idea sounds fun to me, but it requires more time and more work to work on.

Maybe you guys can start a poll to decide.

I have and old small Hibatchi somewhere in the basement. I have to find it, clean it up, and get some charcoal.

Cookout with antifreeze....I like ;)

Cookout Idea Update

Just an update on the cookout idea:

I called the GM of the Holiday Inn yesterday to ask if we would be allowed to hold a cookout in their parking lot and he told me that they don't encourage it. I got the feeling that his major concern was taking away revenue from thier restaurant, because he offered to see if he could get a better price for the buffet. John Hoffman (svxcess) was going to call Tia Jones (with whom he spoke earlier regarding the buffet) last night and see what was up.

If they cannot come up with an affordable price for the buffet, then maybe we will have to look for a picnic area or campground where we can hold a cookout.

Does anyone else have any ideas? All suggestions are welcome at this point.

Diana

P.S. The reason I'm leaning toward an informal cookout-type gathering is so that no one would be excluded due to lack of funds. Anyone can just hang out for free or bring their own grub to cook and/or share.
