Where for art thou Airbag Controller
If I were an airbag controller, where would I hide in an SVX?
My bags have popped, and I want that silly light to go away! NOTE: I said AIRBAG NOT WINDBAG!!!! |
It's on the tunnel, below the radio and in front of the ash tray. Have fun getting access to it and have some security-torx bits ready...
|
Security Torx just to unplug it?
Wow they REALLY just want technicians to work on these huh? |
Unpluging it won't make the light go off...
|
I hate taking dashboards apart, but I hate red lights on the dash more!
Oh well I guess I rip the bulb out! |
I hate to be a bastard about it, but "Where for" means "why" Essentially you asked, Why are you, airbag.
If you think about it, it makes sense. Where is the for? Nevermind, skeezit, it must be the potato vodka talking. Patrick |
Well, that's actually apropriate too. Why do we tolerate driving around, every day, with an incindeary device aimed squarely at our face?
So yes, why art thou airbag! P.S. I DID specify AIRBAG, not WINDBAG :) |
I think it's Hillary's fault, retroactive.
The Torx Security bits I found were in a $10 pack of maybe 6,000 bits that was available at Advance Auto. I don't know that I'd want to try to work them under the stereo, even with the stereo out. Who designed this thing? |

Who designed this thing?....Very small guys with very small hands! |
You might be able to plug some sort of resistor into the air bag unit wiring harness that'll fake it out and make it think a live bag is plugged in. Or just get a steering wheel from the boneyard with an airbag in it..
|
To do it properly, you have to replace the bags, crash sensor, and controller. Likely $600 or so, not the best investment in an $800 car:cool:
It was suggested, that I put some electrical tape over the light. I'm all for that, it's my style, typical broke redneck engineering. |
Pull the air bag fuse?
