leaking

I have a valve cover leak that is really crazy. I went to a couple of sites and found a vcg, washer seals, but no spark plug well seals. I assume I will need every gasket there is to make this problem a thing of the past.
So: someone got a 411 on the spark plug well seals? I hate to fix something twice because it means I didn't fix it the first time.
Thanks all!

First, did you change to full synthetic oil? If you did, you may want to go back to a blend or regular oil. One older cars, the synthetic oil will leak like crazy.

Second, if you mean the boots that go over the plugs, they are part of a coil and plug boot combination. You will have to replace both. If that is not what you mean, please clarify what you mean by plug well seals. :)

I haven't taken muchh of a look at it all, but the plug well seal is the description given from autopartswarehouse.com. What seals/gaskets are needed to totally seal up our valve covers? I thought like some honda motors and others, there was a seal around the area where the coil pack goes thru the valve cover casting. I just want all the parts in-hand before starting a job.

and, no synthetics anywhere.

So, this forum rocks! thanks for the info!
But, I work 8am to 7pm mon thru sat. I can't get to a dealer and therefore must buy online. Any favorite internet places that stock these parts? As always to everyone for the input.

I like Liberty Subaru in NJ, but you need to call them and ask for the svx.net discount. Their number is 866-407-5042.

check subaru-parts-dealer.com and subaruparts.com (diagram taken from that website above)

ensteele 08-24-2007 07:52 AM

:D :D :D I would check with all of them until you find the part that you need. Good luck with the fix. :)

Hold the phone! Do a search for the gasket kit for another motor. I will try to find it in a minute. It will save you a good chunk of change. It was posted a week after I ordered mine. I hope we have it readily available.

Payday is next friday, so I hope to put all your help to good use then. I was looking under my car recently and there were spider webs everywhere. That is sad and annoying, but should change in a couple of weeks when I become a 4.44's owner. :)

Psychosis5150 08-24-2007 06:17 PM

Be forewarned, my local dealer charged me almost twice what subaruparts.com would have cost me, and it took 3 weeks to get the parts in. So I'd recommend shopping around a bit!
