Mythbuster. Russian Federation

I know that there are a lot of inside out opinions and incorrect facts about RF. I live here and i can tell you the truth about everything here, just ask;)

For example - there are NO bears on the streets, you only can see bear in the Zoo or circus)

is it true that in russia car drives you?

sorry, couldn't resist. actually though do you guys have cadillacs over there? i used to work in an area with a lot of fresh russian immigrants and when they brought in their cadillac for service i would have to break the news to them that they bought a corolla that someone put a cadillac badge on. some even refused to believe me.

Sometimes, it looks like unknown force rules the driver)) im talking about crazy idiots on the road, but there a lot of them everywhere)

I never heard that someone bought a Corolla or something else with Cadillac badge here, because only dumbest man cant recognize it))

There are a lot of Escalades, SRX`s and CTS`s in big cities, such as Moscow or Saint-Petersburg. In general, modern models

Sometimes you can meet `90s Seville STS and De Ville on the road, really rarely `90s Eldorado

And there are few vintage Eldorados and De Villes, mostly at the car shows

I was a child during the Cuban missile crisis and vividly recall the culture of hate and fear toward "the Russians." (I honestly thought the hammer and sickle were weapons.) To a little kid, it was a terrifying time. Did ordinary citizens in the USSR feel that way about Americans?

Oh, and isn't it a myth that vodka is made from potatoes?

to dcarrb:

USSR disintegrationed 21 years ago, now i dont know about people in CIS, but in Russia people has no fear about it. Putin and his inner politics scares us a lot

Ethyl alcohol is made from grain or grain-potato or potato raw produce, so partly its right;) But you cant do vodka just picking potato;) You can made it from ethyl alcohol and water

I did not experience the Cuban crisis, but I did grow up with a Reagan-era fear of Soviet Russia. I am no longer afraid, but I am deeply fascinated. How could I not find a country that huge and that diverse fascinating? It's especially interesting when such a huge country has had very distinct and different recent eras of government, organization and culture.

I recently heard a podcast about a book on Soviet-era Russian consumer product design. It sounded amazing and I keep meaning to order it.

To the OP: I would really like to visit your country some day. I hope I get the chance to.

For the OP: Is it true that many Russian drivers use GoPro/Dash cameras to record everyday driving? It seems really common lately. What is the reason?

To Freeman:
No, but now its popular among social dangerous people to have traumatic gun in Moscow

To Mr. Pockets:
May-September is the best time to come. PM if you need a support

To Mike621

Of course he can:D:D:D

About cameras:
Yes, its true. I have one) There are three main reasons:
1. Its very good protection of swindlers on the roads, like this guy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fNBI7Dw6Gw
(watch on 0:47)
2. Its very good protection of unfair cops (the same swindlers, but unpunished)
3. Its a very good evidence in court to defend your innocence (if you`ve catched in 1 or 2)
