Traded off the SVX tonight, pickup hot rod tomorrow. I got tired of the trans acting up only when I was driving it and the random stalling so it's gone. Anyone wants it you can find it at the Chev dealer in Mora, Minn after tomorrow night. Met some great people thru this site and I will still pop in once in awhile to keep you folks in line. I'm keeping the XT thou, cant part with it. :)

Here is what I traded it in on:

Awwwww,

I still have a really nice 86 turbo XT!

DanSVX94 06-05-2006 08:03 PM

why not get a newer el camino... you know one that doesnt look like it should be painted pink and be a mary kay car... like a 1970 SS

So, waddaya got in that bad girl?

Standard equipment was their in-line six-cylinder engine. The other two choices were both V-8s:

Small block 283 cu. in/230 hp/hydraulic lifters
348 cubic inch big block, various configurations. Largest was the 335hp./solid-lifters.

I think the best choice for all-around driving for that car would be the 283/230hp.engine with the Muncie close-ratio four-speed manual transmission.

(I owned a 59 Impala coupe with a fuel injected 283 and Turboglide)

Until the 409 made its debut...

.

Well

I wanted to trade the SVX in and not let anyone else deal with the issues. Let the dealer fix it for the next owner. I got 3 on the trade.

El Camino has the 283 2bl carb with an auto trans. Has some issues with gauges on the dash not working but he has fixed alot over the past few years and has all the paperwork showing it. The owner owns the Chev dealer in Mora so his mechanic's have done the work.

Besides it's the same age as me almost so I can work on this one. Between this and the XT I can handle most of the issues but the SVX was driving me up a wall.

Well I brought the SVX home,

Saw the car in the sun today, still had issues with charging system and the guy ran circles around it. Said his mechanic's were busy today and could not look at it. He owns the company, I would think they would look at it. So I brought the SVX home. I need to find a shop to fix it around here now.

I need idea's on why it just kills and comes back. Car is under warrenty still and I need it fixed while it is

I think you made the right call to get your SVX back!

Tcat55371 06-07-2006 06:27 AM

Yeah,

I think your right only problem is the SVX is home in the garage because I cant trust it to drive in heavy stop and go rush hour traffic. It just dies whenever it wants to. Kinda like the fuel gets shut off for a second or two and then comes back on. Not to bad of a problem at highway speeds because it comes right back but at 3mph it dies and I have to restart. Always restarts right back up but nobody can figure it out.

So now what?

Pure_Insanity8 06-07-2006 05:16 PM

Looks like you were meant to keep the SVX, John.:) Would you be able to use a shop down here (Bloomington to be exact)? I take the SVX to a shop called Z Tech off of Old Shakopee a mile or so east of 169 in Bloomington. The owner (Ken Zamuda) used to have an SVX and is familiar and competent with them. Just an idea.:)

Tried replacing the MAFS?? Sounds like it has a bad connection inside
