Just wanted to say hello

Just wanted to say hello to you all. I have been viewing the forum for a short time now and am glad to have found you.
Our 1992 SVX has been a great car and still gets a lot of looks here in the Detroit area where imported cars are relatively scarce. Car is stock, but our new wheels will be in shortly (17"x7.5" SSR GT1, 48mm offset w/Kuhmo 712's) and I'll post pics when they are on.

Well, what took ya so long?

Welcome, welcome.

How long have you had your car? Color? Mileage? Problems? Successes? We need to know it all.:D

I like your handle. It's what I imagine most drivers say when we pass 'em.

I meant to say what color, besides teal, and how much mileage, uh, today?

(It's the glasses. Gotta get new glasses.)

Nice to have you - welcome aboard!

I just checked out pics of the SSR wheels - I dig 'em! I look forward to pics of the wheels on your SVX. I don't normally like aftermarket wheels on the SVX, but those look very promising.

You're right about one thing - the rarity of imported cars in this area. My wife and I moved here from VT in December. What a difference in car demographics. She just started teaching at a school which is right down the road from a massive Ford truck plant. The Legacy she drives hasn't made her any friends in that neighborhood yet. :)

I see other SVXs in Ann Arbor very, very rarely. I've met one owner in Ypsi, but messed up the address for this site when I wrote it down for him (only realized it later). I actually see his car every two weeks or so, but I never remember to put the club invite cards in my glove compartment.

Again, welcome to the site, and may you enjoy many thousands of miles in your SVX.

Thanks for the warm welcome. My wife and I are the second owners of this car and have had it since 1994. Other than multiple transmissions (5th one currently in place and none are fault) and some recent wheel bearing issues, the car has been stellar.
Mr. Pockets, the wheels are now going to inspire me clean up the brakes and start down that long slippery slope. The car will become a toy vehicle sometime in the next year or so, but until then it must traverse the minefields we call roads here in MI.

Minefields! Classic! For those of you who don't know what we're talking about, here's an example:

This past winter, I moved from Vermont, which has worse winter weather and great roads (ahem - the roads that are paved, anyway). Michigan has a relatively mild winter and the worst roads I've seen anywhere. More than once this winter I saw stories on the news about freeway overpasses dropping chunks of concrete onto the road below.

The quote from the highway department? 'Well, you'll have that with this weather. Nothing we can do about it...'

Anyway, wawazat (love the handle), the SVX makes a great toy vehicle. I picked up a GL as a commuter this year which will hopefully keep my SVX off the road for the entire winter. Right now the poor thing is in the garage in pieces awaiting the many rubber carburetor parts that are in my kitchen. :)
