power steering pump leaking
Each time I run my car a little hard I notice a little smoke from some type of fluid dripping on the exhaust, well I replaced the powersteering hose already and I think the pump is leaking because fluid is on the block behind the pump,do I need a new pump or can I replace some seals.

Sounds like the classic O-Ring problem. Take a look here for the fix:
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/user.php?How-To|14284 Sorry. The link only gets you part way there. Follow 'Steering System" to "Replacing PS O-ring" to view pdf instructions. Glenn |
If it's back on the exhaust pipes, get the car up on a rack, start it up and have someone crank the wheel from lock to lock while you watch from underneath the car. If you're lucky, it's one of the low pressure return lines for the steering. If you're not lucky, it will be the high pressure line for the steering, if you're really, really not lucky, it's the rack itself and you'll have to replace it. Luckily, there are rebuilt racks available - just make sure to get the number off of the one in the car now so the parts folks order you the right one (it took them 3 tries to get the right one for my car) since the SVX came with several "versions" of steering racks.

I think its going to be that o ring problem, the hoses are new and I see fluid behind the pump thanks anyway.

That sounds like the O-ring. It may not have any other symptoms than that, but if it has not been changed, it will need to be soon. :) At least that is a real cheap fix. :)

The pictures for replacing the o ring is not coming up,have they been moved or something.

See my previous post.;) The pdf file contains 1 pic, but the instructions will tell it all.

Just remember not to overfill it.Mine was wet on the block too when I purchased it.It was coming out the back of the cap and onto the block(overfilled). If your level does go below the full mark then you definitely have a leak.
